Seeking: A Fresh Start

A new year, the first day, a clean slate. There is something about beginnings that gives us a breath of fresh air. It’s like inhaling deeply the thin crispness of clean mountain air or opening the door to see a blanket of purest white crystals refreshing everything with clarity and beauty.

This year is composed of moments in time, untouched and waiting to be birthed, 365 days to be filled with something. The clock is ticking, this moment passing, and we are given days not yet lived. This year is a gift, an adventure to be lived with purpose, direction, and enjoyment.

But heading out means heading to.

Heading to an ultimate destination, we are seeking something in this moment, this day, this year. Is it happiness? Is it peace? Is it rest, forgiveness, wisdom? Is it hope or the comfort of having my daily needs met? Is it beauty? What about being loved and feeling appreciated? All of us seek something.

The thing we seek sets us on the path to our destination.

Do we realize that which is sought, all the answers to life’s path, all that is beautiful, good, and true can still be found?

God, our Creator, has given us the pathway to life in His Word, the Bible, a pathway for all mankind.

“All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being. In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men.” John 1:3-4

So if all life and light came into being through Him who created all things, He must have all the answers to illuminate the moments and hours of these 365 days.

If we are seeking happiness, He has told us:

“You will show me the path of life;
In Your presence is fullness of joy;
At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.” -Psalm 16:11 (NKJV)

“Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” John 14:27 (NKJV)

 “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28 (ESV)

“In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace, which He made to abound toward us in all wisdom and prudence, having made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His good pleasure which He purposed in Himself.” -Eph 1:7-9a

“For the LORD gives wisdom;
From His mouth come knowledge and understanding.” Proverbs 2:6-8 (NKJV)

“Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” -Romans 15:13 (NKJV)

Daily Needs:

“But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:19 (KJV)

“And let the beauty of the LORD our God be upon us,
And establish the work of our hands for us;
Yes, establish the work of our hands.” -Psalm 90:17

Feeling Loved and Appreciated:

 “The LORD has appeared of old to me, saying:
‘Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love;
Therefore with loving-kindness I have drawn you.'” -Jeremiah 31:3 (NKJV)

“Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.” -1 Corinthians 15:58 (NKJV)

He has the answers to whatever we seek.
He is the answer.

So the question really lies in what (or whom) are we seeking in all the moments that will fill the days of 2015?

Heading out means heading to.

And the thing we seek sets us on the path to our destination.

“And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.” Jeremiah 29:13

365 days. The possibilities of living life beautifully are amazing in Him!

What or whom will we seek in 2015?
What or whom will we seek in 2015?
